When it comes to the company’s most prized luxury, the $70,000 Honda Civic is the undisputed king of the hill.
And now that the Civic has reached the end of its life cycle, Honda is gearing up for a huge marketing push to sell off the remaining parts of its venerable, highly profitable fleet.
The company’s first attempt to pull this off came last fall when Honda launched the Civic Hatchback, which launched at $60,000.
The new Civic Hatchbacks have yet to launch and will be limited to one-off promotions.
Now, the company is taking another stab at the $90,000 Civic Hatch, which is scheduled to debut in 2019.
The redesigned hatchback is expected to offer the same price as the $65,000 model.
It will include the same 5.0-liter engine and six-speed automatic transmission, but it will feature an 18-inch touchscreen and a larger rear window, making it more accessible.
The car will also get an automatic, front and rear valance with a 5.5-inch touch screen.
The updated Civic will come with an optional $2,500 option that offers up to $1,500 more fuel economy for a limited time.
If you opt for the Civic Hybrid, Honda says the new hatchback will come standard with a 1.5L engine, a 6.0L VTEC four-cylinder, and a seven-speed manual transmission.
The hatchback and hybrid versions will go on sale later this year.
As for the $50,000 hatch, Honda will be making a special offer that includes the Civic hatchback, a $1 million convertible, and the Civic Turbo.
All three cars are expected to launch in the fourth quarter of 2019.
